Hi, I'm Tom. I have enjoyed reading what alot of you have to say about your various vehicles. There seems to be some great vast of knowledge out there which I appreciate. Therefore, I believe I can be assured I will get some good answers to my question.

I own a 2001 Dodge Dakota which is powered by a 4.7 V8. I am considering building the air intake modification that is listed in one of the previous articles on this web site. It basically does away with the air box and utilizes a 3" straighty PVC pipe filtered with a K & N Filter. I have also been reading about the 'Toronado' air intake unit that is available on the market. Do any of you have experience with this unit? And would it be advantagous to add it to the air intake modification.

Thanks for your help

Tom

The Tornado is a joke! Stay away from it unless you want to lose power!

Welcome. Good thing you asked about the Tornado - it manages to put up some decent mumbo jumbo but is a waste of money.

Welcome. And I agree with what the others said about the tornado.

The 3" PVC does pretty well for the expense (being fairly inexpensive). Also if you do this, route it to the right front corner beside the radiator, and then remove the rubber flap so air can flow straight thru into it. I fell IMO, that the Intense Performance Z-tube is well worth the couple hundred it cost. It flows better than the Home Made Unit (PVC). It also looks Killer under neath the hood with a good F&B Throttle Body. My 4.7L does very well with it.

And just as the others have said, the Tornado make an excellent paper weight.

Thanks Guys. I really appreciate the info you have given about the Toronado. I think I will go with the Home Built first and see what happens.

Thanks again Tom
