I am building a 4.3 Syclone for a customer and I ordered 6 forged Speed Pro (TRW) L2441f30 pistons (SBC turbo pistons) from my supplier. The bastards at Speed Pro changed the piston design and I ended up with 4 old style and 2 new style which have coated skirts and are 20 grams different in weight. I bought a full set of 8 of the new pistons to replace them, and they vary by about 7 grams from best to worst vs the 1 gram difference of the older style. I was hoping someone has a pair or set of the older pistons. They are easy to identify because they have no coating on the skirts. The box has the number L-2441-F 30 on the older style, the newer style box has L-2441-F 030 instead.
Let me know if you have anything or know of someplace with some of the older ones in stock. I tried my supplier, CSK, Jegs, Summit, Northern auto parts, etc with ZERO luck.
Anyone??

Hey Andy, sorry........... can't help ya. I do have a question though. Why do you only buy the correct number of pistons? I always buy 2 extra so you have spare bullets just in case.
AND, 7 grams difference from low to high. So much for quality control
I do have a couple BOWTIE buddies, I will give them a call and see if they can help. The part number you gave is the correct one, RIGHT! L-2441-F 30 Speed Pro ( TRW)

This guy would not pay for a few extra slugs...cheap bastard! I was blown away by the 7 gram discrepancy too! What do they think someone is going to do with these...grind the whole pad off the bottom?? These were supposed to be the "New and Improved" Speed Pro pistons too! I warned this tight ass about cheap pistons! Now he has perfect hindsight!!
Let me know what you come up with, it is much appreciated!

Just buy a set of good quality 350 pistons. Bore and stroke of the 4.3 and the 350 are the same, that way you can have the extra 2 pistons like the ole man suggested. ;)

I already placed the call to both guys, butt, unlike people on this board, THEY FUCKING WORK

Dang Andy, after I read your post in the thread about Penske's new engine, I saw this topic and thought ya had another RX-7 question.

When did I ask a question about an RX7? I made a suggestion...and corrected someone regarding heavy mods on a rotary. Rotarys are great...for me to poop on!! I joke purely out of love.

I totally missed that "H" word in my post! DOH! That means he will have more $$ to spend on camshafts!!

I always heard TRW sucked.

TRW can't be all that bad. They probably make more pistons then the next two manufacturers combined.

Andy, a buddy of mine THINKS he can get that part number, how many do you want?

AWESOME!! I "need" 2 to finish that set of 6. He has to be 100% sure they are wearing the L2441-30 and not the L2441-030 on the label. If he has them I will take them!
Thanks a million!

I know they are the same...thats why I have 14 sbc turbo pistons for it now. If you read the post above yours I explained the situation...the customer is so friggin cheap that JE or Ross were out of the question. He asked for this crap by part number, ordered 6 exactly and now I am left holding the bag....of pistons that is!!
The OLE MAN
Andy, he ordered them, should be here Monday. He said they had the EXACT number you wanted.

PS, we don't have this problem with MOPAR
