4 gallons of 117 octane race-fuel: $29
Admission fee to an OVERattended track: $17
Tolls to and from: $6
A 13.3 at 102 mph timeslip...WORTHLESS
FUCK me in the goat ass. I went to ricer heaven today for street night (New England Dragway). Put in some racegas and cranked up the boost. 18.5 psi, no real knock. First pass was 13.3 at 102. SWEET I thought, 12s are cake. Go to start car...NOTHING. I had to pull off, lose my place in line, and then find out it was a loose connection. So I get back in and run a fucking 14.2 at 102, spinning through 1st and 2nd (Shitty track prep). These two runs took 2.5 hours with all the goddamn 16 second ricemobiles clogging the works. My last run, the bitch motions me to the line before I could do a burnout. Running 19+ psi and of course SPIN off the light again. 2.28 60' followed by an utterly mediocre 13.5 at 103. GODDAMMIT, when will I learn how to launch on this SHITTY track?!?! Another bonus was my laptop battery shitting the bed after the first run, so I had no way to meter knock. I didn't wanna blow the thing up trying for 12s, so I was a pansy.
JESUS CHRIST I have NO patience for this! I should've been running 12s with this air and the octane I had. NO DICE.
Sorry, just had to vent a little bit...

haha I beat ya :P
Seriously though I know the fealing Weazel.I had the same fealings of frustration during my one trip to NewEngland Dragway only heat was my undoing.Like they say "there`s always next year.
Misnblu
Sounds like youve had one of those "Murphy's Law" days.
Everything and anything happened to you that night.
Still, nice times. ;)

Hey Weazel! it will come. I just direct scan and a max effort on a gn yesterday! reakky Cool setup. That direct scan is so fast compared the the old aldl data. You really need to hot wire your laptop (most take aroung 14v input but still will work on 12v kust be carful about power surges!) It will help you avoid that problem again. My buddy is kinda a gn junkie so he knows alot about them. Oh by the way look in the boneyard section I may have something for sale you may be intrested in!!

Weazel, are you running a converter ?
Weazel
No convertor yet. I wanna stick with a turbo that'll work with the stocker. I'm all over TB.com with wanting to buy a bigger turbo and bigger injectors, but I still have to do a little bit of research. I'm thinking a TE-60 (900 cfm) and some 42.5# injectors, but people think I'll need a convertor. FUKDATRYDE.
My problem is I got this damn fat-assed brick of a car, but I don't wanna be fast JUST from the green light. I don't wanna rely on 1.5x 60' times just to be in the 12s, I want a fast CAR. I suck on the strip, that's been proven, so if I have to build a 10 second car to run mid 11s, so be it. Fuck, there's a reason I have a job afterall. Christ though, NED sucks a dick. They should have "helmet night" or something, and only allow cars running 13.99 or better in the gate. I beat every car I "raced" last time by 3 seconds or more. Fucking lame assed ricers, it pisses me off to drive all that way to watch the fucking stock Civics shoot it out.
Grape Ape
Buy my GN tranny and knock off 1/2 a second just like that! Seriously, that's what it's promised to do and it definitely works well with the Art Carr Extreme converter. They say it (the tranny and converter combined) should take 1 full second off an otherwise STOCK Granny Nat. ...I think that's a bit much though. It shifts great and all that but... a full second... ehhhhhidonno.

hello people. i'm new here and this is my first post. i noticed that this one mentioned the new england dragway so i thought i'd put my first post here since that's my nearest track and the first place i've raced my new car.
i bought a 2002 WS6 T/A in august. i had a 1996 WS6 that i sold to a friend in order to get this one. i'd never raced(on a track) before this summer and i'm still learning a lot. my car has a six speed and i was wondering if anyone had any advice about launching and when to shift. should i run out every gear?
when the car was stock my best time was 13.60@104.65 i think my 60' time was about 2.2 it had 322rwhp and 339rwtq stock. in september i put on an SLP loudmouth exhaust and SLP intake lid. my new best time is 13.30@106.80 my biggest problem seems to be traction. my best 60' time now is 2.01.
i've raced it twice at new england dragway, twice at raceway park in NJ and once at island raceway in NJ. at raceway park i had my biggest traction problems. i don't think i got under 13.8 there because i spun the tires every run. island dragway was awesome except there's a nasty ridge that goes across the track right around where i hit 2nd gear that made me think i blew something up when i heard it. new england seems to be hit or miss for me and traction. sometimes i hook up and sometimes i don't. my last run was on october 9th and i ran against a modified turbo'd eclipse. i had been running 13.38 or better all night and then i spun on that one and ran 13.5. i beat his time by a few hundreths but he beat me across the line by half a car length.
next year i'll put in 3.73 gears, maybe headers, drag radials. who knows what else. gotta get the dyno #s since i put on the exhaust and intake.

i really am not a fan of the second generation Fbody. i love the first generation. the third generation wasn't too bad. i didn't like the front end of the 93-97 firebirds. my favorite are the 69 camaro with the cowl hood and steel roof, and the 98-02 WS6 trans am.
Grape Ape
I've liked the looks of almost every year model and at least some years of each generation of the F-body's Firebird version, be it a T/A or not. With the 4th gen, the WS6 is the sharpest looking model to me. I do think they really cleaned up the Camaro beginning in 1998 though. Till then, it was almost always sloppy looking since 1974.
