I would like to build a mild 302 for my Tbird that would give me about 350-400hp at the flywheel. The biggest part being that I just work part time as a waiter, so the budget must be as low as possible. Right now the car runs low 10s/high 9s at my local 1/8th mile track. It's great for surprising imports that think their body kits give them 100 more hp, but can't truly mess with anything serious. I'd love to run mid/low 8s at the track (13s in the 1/4). Suggestions and comments are more than welcome.

I have put together a quickie parts list simply to give a general idea of max price and what I'm shooting for:

Camshaft:
Trick Flow Track Max Hydraulic Roller Camshaft - $164

Intake:
Ford Racing Cobra Intake $404

Rocker Arms:
Comp Cams full roller 1.7 ratio $160

Throttle body:
Summit 65mm $140

Total ~$2200

This list is obviously assuming that I'll buy everything new (which I won't) so there is A LOT of room here for savings. It is also just a quickie parts list I did in about 15 minutes to give myself a general idea of prices. I have no idea how to look at cam specs and head specs and figure out good combos, so keep that in mind (I know what the numbers mean, just not which ones need to compare and how they need to compare). This is mostly a pricing list. I noticed aluminum heads aren't much more expensive than cast iron ones, so I'm definitely going to stick with aluminum. I will use the lifters and pushrods and bottom end from a stock Mustang HO engine.

i would go with this cam (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TFS%2D51402000&autoview=sku) instead of the stage 2, its just way to much cam especially with 1.7 rockers

Also i would get the twisted wedge heads over the GT-40s.

The Cobra intake is fine but I would find a good deal on a used one Edelbrock, GT-40 Cobra Trick flow, ect. what ever you come across first

With all those parts your going to need to convert to mass air. (not sure but i think that ole T-bird is speed dencity) your best bet is to get a computer and harness out of a 89-93 Mustang. You will have to have a mass air calibrated for those 24 pound injectors.

Yes, the Tbird is currently speed density. And I am definitely going to try to find as many deals on used parts as I can. I agree on the cam and heads also, I was just throwing stuff out there to see what kinda of top price range there is for what I'm aiming for. Thank you very much for your help.
