E6SE heads

I bought these heads that where just laying around in the bone yard. They are E6SE and by the intake it has a # 86. So what car did they come off of and what would the cc be? :(

While im asking questions I want to know if anyone knows how much hp my 7.5 rearend will handle in my 1984 capri?It does have posi.

They are E6SE and by the intake it has a # 86. So what car did they come off ofThey could have come off of any number of different cars/trucks. These heads were used on just about everything post '85, except a post '86 Mustang. They don't work well with post '86 Mustang pistons. The valves in these heads are shrouded preventing good flow. This can be modified. With some good port and polish work and some good chamber work, to unshroud the valves, these heads can, actually, flow fairly well.
They make good "sleeper" heads. Most people just don't expect a factory cast iron headed engine to make much power. I've seen a car run 10.6s @ well over 120 mph (I wanna say 126ish) with 86 heads. It was a long time ago, so I can't remeber the exact #s. The car was, supposedly, a record setter, at the time.
I can't remember the CC of these heads, but I'm thinkin' around 55/56.

IF You keep wheel hop to a minimum, it'll handle a decent amount of power (prolly up to around 400-420 ft/lb of torque) and last a long time. The good news is, you won't have to try too hard to find an 8.8".
If you want to put down over 400, you'll want to swap the axles, even with the 8.8". Of course, that will require , at least, new side gears. If I were going to swap the axles, I'd install a new differential.
And you'll probably want to swap the gears with either rear.

Im going to return the heads they are shit. Valves need to be replaced. back to the junk yard I go. Dont want to because up here in WA it rains to fucking much. I hate this state.

Food for thought; You would want to use bigger valves, anyway.
As far as stock (302) heads, those are my favorite. They require a shit load of work but, when done correctly, they can make good power.
Still can't hold a candle to most aftermarket heads, though. :D

86 heads are usualy called "High Swirl" and they're good on some points. Most points, however, aren't as good as other years where Mustangs are concerned. The high swirl heads were used on many other Fords in following years, resulting in roughly 180hp engines.

One can get this from a book. There are many sources out there.
I don't have any of my books here, that I know of. And I can't remember which books this information is in, but it's out there.
OH, I know ... Maybe, buy a cam degreeing kit from Jegs, or Summit. When you order, just tell 'em you need a video. They aughta be able to fix you right up. ;)

Summit's degree wheel doesn't come with the video, however the Comp Cams kit comes with one. Once you do one, it's like everything else...piece of cake. :)
