1990 f-150 not coming out of gear.

I have a 90 f-150 that has had a few problems as of late. I turn the key to the start position and i get power but doesn turn the engine over. Also I cant get the shifter to go out of park. I changed the tumbler and the ignition switch. But nothing. Any ideas would really help.

theres a rod that goes from the ignition lock cylinder to the ignition switch, that probably either broke or came out of place some how

that is what is sounds like to me.
