Need some help on a 5.0 engine swap. 88 stang motor into 95 truck the flex plate and flywheel bolt on fine. Cannot get bellhousing and motor to mate up. I had to machine a 1/4 inch out of pilot bushing to except the converter. Still no luck any help outthere. Thanks fastback1967@hotmail.com

What engine came out? What transmission are you trying to use? It's not easy to help with only pieces of information.

The 88 Mustang 5.0 itself will drop directly into an F-series from 1968 through 1996 models. You'll need the correct transmission and exhaust parts, among other things, and the correct harnesses for the year model of the pickup to make it an easy swap.

Both engines had auto overdrive bolted to them. The pilot for the converter had less depth than the 88 engine. I talked to ford about my problems it maybe my converter is not in properly. I have little experience with Aods. Thank Rich

Based on that, I would agree the converter isn't fully installed. When it is, it will becompletely inside the bellhousing so that it's basically only visible from the front when sitting on the ground. If you force it together anyway, you'll very likely crack the pump and have to remove the whole unit for repair. Good luck. ;)

I hope I didnt trash this thing. When I pulled it I thought I kept the converter in place by pushing it back, when I yanked the motor. When I was bolting the new 88 motor in I had my father rotate the motor because it didnt seem to bolt up correctly. All I can do now check and see if I see any broken pieces. Thanks for your help Rich
